More Snow!

This was taken this morning and it has continued to snow ALL day.
Spent afternoon at the National Museum and Al said, "that was very
worthwhile!". Exhibit on Kapital tied in with what we had learned in
SE Asia and seen at the
Riksmuseum in Amsterdam earlier this month.

Snowy Morning in Zurich

Another view'

Thank goodness we brought enough layers, gloves and hats! Off to
Frankurt tomorrow and home Tues.

Raclett Stube

We REALLY had a delicious cheese fondue dinner in Alstadt Zurich
tonite. It was as good as Al makes at home!
Snowed all the walk home. Daylight savings for EU tonite.

Kunsthaus Museum Zurich

We spent much of this rainy, snowy day at this large wonderful old
museum. A lovely way to avoid the heavy rain and snow. Many Munchs
which were not so gloomy, Dutch Masters and Impressionists. I'm
standing in front of Rodin's Gates of Hell. Yet no sight of the alps.
Mb will be like coming to Seattle and not seeing THE mtn.

To go Fondue

In the large Zurich dept store, Globus there is a huge food hall where
you can buy just about anything! Here we found pkgs filled with
cheese, etc to take home and put right in the fondue pot. We will eat
tonite at a Swiss Fondue restaurant. It is snowing now so we hope it
doesn't get too nasty.

View from Zurich Hotel Room

Zurich is a bustling place. Took an afternoon walk along the main
shopping strasse which ends at the Zurich Zee. Weather
cloudy....expecting snow this weekend.
Auf viedersien.

RailJet

This is our second trip aboard RailJet and we find our first class
reserved seat very comfortable. It is 5+ hours Salzburg to Zurich.

First glimpse of Alps from train

There is quite a bit of fog today as we travel from Salzburg to
Zurich. At times we have had glimpses of lovely alpine villages as
well as some long tunnels.

Zum Eulenspiel

Near Mozart's birth house we found this restaurant that we ate at in
1969. It seemed "fancier" then and stretched out intern budget. Old
Town Salzburg is much fancier and commercial then when we visited 43
years ago! More to see tomorrow.

Amy's favorite store

H & M is ALL over Europe. Here it is located right next to Mozart's
birthplace! The old town is not like it was in 1969---now many
fancy shops mixed among the old historical buildings.

Arriving in Salzburg

We travelled on RailJet from Budapest to Salzburg in 6 hours. Very
comfortable with speeds up to 120 and stewardess serving us double
cappuccinos!

Al folk dancing with gypsy!!!

A band of gypsies entertained us on our last night in Budapest. And
one asked Al to Dance!

This evening we tools an evening cruise along the Danube. It was lovely.

Where are we?

Some precious "free" time from the tour. What shall we do?

Hungarian Goulash!

We found a wonderful local place in the market. Al had dumplings and
goulash and I had delicious stuffed pepper. Strudel for dessert!

Hall of Mirrors

We attended a lovely concert at this lovely chapel tonite

Trdelnik

A delightful bread like confection rolled in sugar and nuts eaten warm

Frey Wille

On recent trips we have seen this jewelry which is made in Austria.
The designs are from artists such as Klimt, Mucha and Monet. Al
bought me a lovely pendant designed after Monet's irises. Later he
bought me a silk scarf from a Mucha design. Today we played hookey
from the tour (which took a long drive to some castle) to see more of
Prague.

Prague Grocery

Here our Albert has his own store!

After carriage rides! (Zacopane)

We all gathered around a huge Bon fire and roasted kielbasa and were
served hot mulled wine. Before the ride we were served a huge meal of
tomato soup with noodles, salads of carrot, tomato and cole slaw, pork
chops with dill sauce and apple pie. I forgot that we began with
fried smoked sheep's cheese and cranberry jelly and had lots of vodka!

Restaurant Dolina Chocholowska

Near Zacopane we stopped for lunch and had wonderful entertsinment

Polish Folk Dancing

A trope of Polish Folk Dancers entertained us after dinner.  Al was invited to dance by one of the dancers!  He was great!  Margie had her turn too!
