Newport Aquarium
We visited this super aquarium with Amy, Ellie, Nolan + Matt. The sun really tried to come out. It was quite busy as this is Spring Break for many OR schools.

Lunch at Mo's Siletz Bay
We drove to Lincoln City for groceries and a new kite. After that we stopped at Mo's overlooking Siletz Bay just south of town for fried clams! And Grandpa bought Nolan a new race car!
To the beach!
We had so much "stuff" that we almost couldn't fit Ellie and Nolan in the car along with Nolan's bike and Ellie's scooter! (Little did we know then that it would rain so hard there was never a time to use them!)

Balto. Inner Harbor 80•F 3/13/12!
We heard via the grapevine that it was snowing big flakes on Mercer Island THIS morning. It is warm and sunny here in Baltimore with near perfect weather. We took a stroll around the Inner Harbor from our hotel (the green building on the middle left of the picture!) The year Al became President of ACCC the Balto/DC was crippled by a huge snowstorm shutting down government offices for several days. Quite a contrast 19 years later. He's been practicing his talk for tomorrow at the luncheon. Home Thursday.

Concord Pt Lighthouse Havre de Grace Md
"Located on the point where the mighty Susquehanna River meets the Chesapeake."
Al hadn't been to Havre de Grace in years and not sure I was ever there. It's a very old town right on the river with several marinas and new condos and lots of little shops and a section of old homes. We had a great lunch at the Tides Inn where Sally and I had Maryland Crab Soup and the guys of course had crab cake sandwiches!

Visit to Sally and David Daneker
It's early spring in Maryland and we took a quick snap shot of Sally and David in their front yard before we headed off for Havre de Grace.

Here We Go Again
After just a few days in Seattle we left on Sat. (3/10) for Baltimore where Al will receive an award for ACCC (The Association of Community Cancer Centers) on 3/14. The Sunday flights were all booked so we barged in on Sally and David Daneker a day early and despite the fact that they had dinner guests we were most warmly welcomed. We both so enjoy our time with them and this visit was no exception.

Asian museum Singapore
This is a amazing museum on the river where we learned much about SE Asia and saw dishes salvaged from a 9th century ship recently located. The museum does a terrific job of tracing the history of trading in this area that goes way back for centuries and how the traders have influenced the evolution of the society and cultures. The Chinese, Indians, Dutch, British, and Portugese were heavily involved at one time or other, each bringing their own cultures and religions.
"Please mind the platform gap!"
The subway exiting passengers come out the center and boarding passengers wait either side. All very orderly. We have passes and get ourselves around quite successfully even on rush hour.
BUKO NERO
We had a warm welcome at tiny little restaurant run by George and Richard's friends Tracey (photo) + Oscar. Kate + Mike don't miss when you come to Singapore. Buko Nero is located in a restored shop house where the shop would be on the ground floor and the upper two levels would be where the shopkeeper and his family would live. There are small pockets of these attached shop houses that are being preserved and they are very quaint. This neighborhood Tangor Pajar has been restored and is full of professional offices, restaurants, bars, and shops. Very quaint in this other wise very modern city. The food was Italian and excellent.
