Mission Santa Barbara

Mission Santa Barbara

Santa Barbara Mission sits at the foot of the mountains overlooking the city of SB and the ocean. It was originally constructed in 1786. The current building is not the original but quite old and with subsequent additions.  The mission serves today as a parish church, a Franciscan monestary, a conference center, and a tourist attraction. We went on a very organized self guided tour. There were some very lovely gardens in the court yard and the cemetary.  Certainly, an impressive alive historical building.
