Decided to take our walk by going from one end to the other of this beautiful beach.....actually 4 separate state beaches...about 1.5 miles long. Along the way we ran into the Irons Bros. Pine Tree (surfing) Classic. The contestants were kids probably under 12 accompanied by their families. They were offering free hamburgers/hot dogs so we stopped for lunch and to watch the fun. There were lots of heats but there were so many spectators in the water it was hard to identify the contestants.
On the way home we stopped for shave ice (not shaved ice or snow cones). The ice is shaved off a block of ice with a very sharp rotating blade). It is served over a scoop of ice cream topped with a medley of fruit syrup. Al chose Hanalei Sunrise----mango, orange + pineapple. We shared one over macadamia nut ice cream.
Final stop Hanalei Dolphin for opakapaka and a sushi roll for dinner.
