Cambodian New Year

We arrived in Siem Reap on the Eve of the Cambodian New Year---a huge 3 day celebration. Our first morning we gathered on the lawn of the hotel with the hotel employs at a shrine prepared to begin the holy holiday.
Everyone was given incense sticks and an opportunity to pray. Mine was for world peace. For most this was a holiday but hotel employees had to work. Our waiter did manage to go home on his scooter 20km after work to celebrate in the evening. He lives near the hotel on a rented room with several siblings.
We were all very impressed by the young boy carrying the beat on the drum. Hard to tell age but mb 10-12!
