Cortona Day 2

After a leisurely breakfast we set out to see Cortona. It is bigger and more residential then expected!
First we stopped at Gariabdi Piazza and were amazed at the view! (The views only got better!)



At the City Hall we saw a wedding.


The Bride in the lower left corner was in a rise colored strapless gown.


David, Al and I climbed the VERY steep narrow roads to the Santa Margherita Basillica. She is the patron saint of Cortona and is entombed over the altar! Views from high above the town are spectacular.

Day 1 Cortona

We met our friends SAlly and David Daneker in Rome and drove with to Cortona, an ancient hill town in Tuscany. We had arranged an apt in the center of town.



Cars are discouraged. Fortunately a taxi drove us up the narrow steep roads depositing us located at the bottom of a steep passageway where the apt is located at the top of 59 stone steps.

Ostia Antica

We spent the day visiting this ancient port founded in 400BC at the mouth of the Tiber River. Later it was covered in silt when the river changed course.
To get there we took a 30 min bus ride to reach the train. Not sure of the stop Al tries to get help from the bus driver!

Settling in First Class

Off Again

Flew to Newark and we checked in at BA found out we were in First Class! Pleasant surprise. Just served a lovely preboarding dinner in First Class Lounge. Flight leaves for LHR @ 9:45pm.

SYC Outstation Garden Bay

Before heading south and home we stopped again at Garden Bay, Pender Harbour.



Longtime Emmanuel friends Emmett and Sandy Maloof, daughter Christy and family were also at Garden Bay.

Princess Louisa Inlet

After spending a night at Egmont we headed further up the Jervis Inlet to Princess Louisa Inlet.
This is a trip of over 40 miles so it took us just about all day.   The weather and tides cooperated and so it was a delightful and beautiful trip.  We arrived a little early at the Malibu Rapids and enjoyed the time to view the beautiful snow capped mountains.
