Alaska's inaugural flight to Washington Dulles

We stepped of the plane on the first leg of our trip to Spain to be greeted by cake and balloons! We were on Alaska's first trip to Dulles!

Summer of Bedrest

We set up a cot in our sun room of the kitchen with a pleasant view of the garden. This is where Al spent the rest of the summer. And we hired a captain to bring our sailboat back to Seattle from the San Juan's.

End of Boating Trip

So we welcomed Brooke, Will, Emma and Lucy on board and hoped he would feel better.  Will and Brooke left the girls and the 3 of us ran the boat (no sailing) for a few days.  Ten year old Lucy even learned to start the engines on our 2 HSP engine!  When Al did not improve Brooke drove her van to Friday Harbor.  Al drove home laying down in the back of the van.

Short boating trip this summer!

Less than a week after leaving Seattle in July Al suffered a herniated disk. He was comfortable laying down but found it near impossible to sit or stand, his doctor prescribed bed rest and said he could try a week of bed rest on our boat!

Underway!

A little later than the skipper would have liked! We are fully loaded with gear (fishing gear new this year!), games, a ton of food, a little wine, and clothes for every condition. Looking forward to lots of family on board this summer.. Glorious day with temps into the mid 80's. if all goes as planned we will return just after Labor Day.
