Auschwitz

Today in the rain(which heightened the gloom) we visited Auschwitz.
The atrocities committed by the Nazis are beyond description. Here
millions were sent to their death. A very sad situation.

Shrine of the Black Madonna

We stopped between Warsaw and Krakow to see the Black Madonna. It is
a Byzantine painting of the VirginMary holding Jesus. Most Poles are
Catholic and the shrine was crowded. We paraded thru the church right
during Mass to see this icon. For us it seemed very intrusive.

Chopin Concert

Tonite we attended a lovely piano concert performed by award winning
Polish pianist Maria Gabrys
