Meeting The O'Claires

We left Ganges and had a terrific sail across to Otter Bay where we planned to meet the O's. They took the Tsawassen Ferry.
Here comes the ferry...

Here they are!

Canada Day

July 1st is Canada Day and a long fun filled weekend for the Canadians. In the evening we walked into town for a beer and to listen to some local music.

Ganges

We left Friday Hbr and headed for Ganges, the largest town in the Gulf Islands. We timed our visit so as not to miss the Saturday Market and get crab at our favorite fish store.

A few days in Friday Hbr

After crossing the Strait of Juan de Fuca on a lovely day we encountered several days of rainy weather. Decided to settle in at SYC Outstation for a few days where we knew we could be comfortable.

A view of the solstice moon the night we arrived.

Al is enjoying a breakfast muffin made by our dear Orcas Island friend, Elise Fortin.

Stopping by the ferry dock on our way back frm town.

Finally the weather cleared somewhat and we had a lovely evening and sunset tho still a little cool.

Pt Townsend to Friday Hbr

Due to the summer solstice the tides are big and the moon is full. We had a delightful motor to Portt Hudson Marina at Portt Townsend arriving yesterday at low tide.   Wish I'd taken a shot at low tide as we were about 15' below the breakwater and by high tide we could look over it. We took a walk to find the PO and along the way encountered a mama deer and her doe.  Later we stopped at an old fashioned ice cream soda shop for a soda.  Guess what flavor I had?   and Al?

This morning we had to wait for the flood tide before we could leave. While waiting about 8 otters jumped on the dock seemingly not bothered by our presence!

Al probably got better pics but u get the idea!

We crossed the Strait of Juan de Fuca with calm seas and sunny skies in record time and "flew" through Cattle Pass at 13.8 knots!!!!! You can see how much better the weather was then the day we left Seattle.

We are now sitting topside enjoying the evening and the lovely super moon.
