Franz Joseph Glacier

We drove to Franz Joseph Glacier village where we met our guide, Mike and with him drove to where the trail began. The entire hike to and from took about 2 hours. It was a nasty morning and we wore our rain gear.

We stopped along the way for Mike to tells us about this glacier named after the Austrian Emperor.

The crevice in the trees is a fault line.

The weather improved as we approached.

First view of the FJ Glacier.

The picture above was taken at a view point above the river bed.

Hiking back to the bus!
