Jet Boating on the Dart River

We awoke to a beautiful day and headed out on a bus to Glenorchy for a jet boat trip up the Dart River. On the way we had lovely views of the Southern Alps and Mt Cook, the tallest Mtn in NZ.

The trip on the boat was spectacular. The boat when planing hovers above the shallow water. These boats were developed for farmers to cross the shallow water to reach their sheep grazing on the other side. Al took lots of photos and we will post better ones later but these give an idea of the trip.

After the boat we took a walk through a lovely rain forest and a drive across the river bed on a 4WD bus.

The last part of the trip was to see Locations where The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings were filmed.

Having seen none of these movies I can only tell u that the small triangular tree in the center above in one of these movies was very important!!!!!
