Milford Sound Part 1

Milford Sound we have learned is a misnomer. It is actually a fjord. We left Queenstown early in the morning for the 4+ hour drive to Milford Sound. It was a rainy, rainy day and despite some predictions the weather never changed.


we travelled over a large mountain range and encountered literally hundreds of waterfalls due to the rain.





At one of our stops we encountered a very well known NZ bird, the Kea. These birds are very smart and very inquisitive. Bob, our OAT guide, told us the will remove the rubber trim on your windshield and he even saw one take away a hub cap!








We stopped several times along the way. One stop was at an incredible canyon.







You can see we had a lot of rain!
