We took a walked through this charming town and then along with many others climbed the 418 steps to the top of this hill and the Kniven viewpoint overlooking Alesund and the surrounding islands. Alesund has been a trading site since the 11th century. It was burned to the ground in 1904 and rebuilt with help from Kaiser Wilhelm who liked to vacation in Norway!
