Visit to Flam and Voss

(I got so excited about posting Alesund that I skipped our wonderful day in Flam! So this post is out of order!!!)
Flam is at the head of Aurlandsfjorden, a fjord off the much longer Sognefjorden. It is a old small village which becomes overrun in the summer by tourists. We were here to take the Flamsbana Railway and trip to Voss. Voss is midway between Flam and Bergen and best known world wide as a site for extreme sports.
First we took a bus up a road only open in the summer to see some extraordinary views and waterfalls. Then after lunch in Voss we took the Bergen to Oslo train stopping in Myrdal where we connected to the Flamsbana for the 1 hour trip back to Flam. This second train was first operated in 1904 to provide access for the people in Flam to connect with the rest of Norway. It is very steep and winds at times 360 degrees inside mountains to be able to accomplish the steep grade. It was not only a beautiful trip but quite amazing.
