Greetings from Tromso, Norway

We are in this northern most city of Tromso several hundred miles north of the Arctic Circle continuing on our northern route to Honningsvag and the North Cape. Our latitude is 70 which is just a little further north than the most northern part of Alaska. The entire west coast of Alaska is warmed by the Gulf Stream. While it gets way below freezing here it is not as cold as other parts of the world at this latitude.
The shot of our ship was taken as we went up a aerial tram to a view point overlooking the city. This is a city of about 70,000 with a university and large medical center. The main industry is fishing but now changing as oil has been discovered in the Bering Sea.
The last picture is of the Arctic Cathedral. This is actually a local church which received this nickname due to its architecture and arctic location. It is now a city icon.
