Produce at Barka Market

Adjacent to the Barka Fish Market was a sort of informal produce market.  Some was in stalls and some right off the back of the farmer's truck.   Not too much is grown in Oman and what is grown must be irrigated with precious water.  BTW almost all water in Oman is sourced from desalination plants built by the government and delivered by underground pipes in the more populated areas.

Mangoes....the local ones we have now on the ship are
not nearly as delicious as the Alphonso mangoes from India
Okara---At several lunch stops we have had delicious
salads made using cooked okra with tomatoes
