In the post "Arrival in Doha" I had a picture of a falcon being held by his handler and a little information about the importance of falconry in these countries. An entire section of the Doha Souq was devoted to falconry including a hospital/veterinarian facility, shops selling falcon accouterments and several also selling falcons. This is big sport among the wealthy. Falconry is an ancient art dating back to 7th century BCE. The birds are carefully trained to pursue their prey and the skill is the quality of the catch. Birds are worth thousands of dollars.
Below Al is holding one of the typical hoods worn by the falcons unless they are working.
