The town was built on the side of a ravine and the main street is built over the river.
A very tiny marina is at the end of the street.
We hiked into the hills above and saw some amazing views of the little village perched above the sea.
Lunch was sharing a cone of frito misto, a mix of seafood--sardines, squid, white fish and shrimp. Delicious! Every meal we have enjoyed wonderful fish and seafood.
The most exciting part of the day was yet to come!!!! The boat trip back to Monterosso. The seas were so high that the boat only was able to stop at two villages. When it approached to pick us up with rocks on either side, the crew lassoed two cleats off the bow while another crewman shoved a gang plank straight from the bow to the dock. Meanwhile the captain kept the boat in reverse. Walking up that gang plank was not fun!
Here a passenger is disembarking.
And quickly our group is boarding.
Beyond Al u can see the treacherous coast and a portion of the RR tunnel.
We passed another hill town but did not stop.
Here we r disembarking in Monterosso. It was behind a sea wall and much calmer.
