Monterosso, Cinque Terre

We are staying in the most northern and largest of the 5 towns, Monterroso. Our hotel, La Collonnina, is situated on the side of the hillside just a block or two f the Mediterranean. We have a lovely room with a large terrace in a garden with a fig tree. Very comfortable.


Our first morning we awoke to lightening and thunder which lasted all morning. After a few hours of sunshine the stormy rain returned.



We had come to trek the Cinque Terre and disappointingly the entire trail was closed for two days.
The first day we took a long walk up into the hills above town.














Olive trees everywhere. Harvesting mid winter...here nets are already set out to catch the olives as they fall.
